Oil marketing companies (OMCs) announced a price hike for the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder on October 1, 2024, increasing the cost by ₹ 48.50. As a result, the price of a 19-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen to ₹1,740 from ₹1,691.50. This adjustment represents the third consecutive increase within the last three months, following previous hikes of ₹6.5 per cylinder on August 1 and ₹39 on September 1.
In total, these three rounds of increases have resulted in a cumulative rise of ₹94 per cylinder, overshadowing four previous months of price reductions, during which rates were decreased by ₹148 per 19-kg cylinder. The current prices for commercial LPG vary across major cities, with the 19-kg cylinder costing ₹1,692.50 in Mumbai, ₹1,850.50 in Kolkata, and ₹1,903 in Chennai.
It is noteworthy that the price of cooking gas for domestic households remains unchanged at ₹803 per 14.2-kg cylinder. State-owned companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), revise LPG prices on the first of every month.
